Basketball was invented in 1891 by a sports teacher at Springfield University (USA). He wanted students to be able to play an indoor sport in winter and summer that was less violent than soccer. At the time, balls for all sports were made of leather. This ball was made for VIP customers in 2004, and has become a coveted collector's item.
